Before we break for the holiday, we assessed the nine finalists for our Best Car To Buy 2024 award that will be announced Jan. 3, 2024. It’s a great list for shoppers, but a tough call for our five editorial judges to agree on, ranging from the value-oriented 2024 Chevy Trax to the evolutionary 2024 Kia EV9 three-row crossover SUV. We also recapped some of the 2024 changes to some of Britain’s finest vehicles.
Here’s what moved us.
The 2024 Land Rover Range Rover may be the original luxury SUV, but it looks to the future with its plug-in hybrid tech. It earns a TCC Rating of 7.4 out of 10.
Boasting top-notch road manners and stellar turbo power, the Range Rover Sport would be a true flagship if not for its even more impressive big brother. It earns a TCC Rating of 7.2 out of 10.
The BMW 7-Series comes with gas, hybrid, and electric powertrain options, each with lots of power and luxury. It also handles well, earning it a TCC Rating of 7.0 out of 10.
The Velar luxury SUV boasts impressive powertrain choices, refined performance, and styling that never seems to grow old. It’s a 7.0.
Many rivals offer better value, but the 2024 Jaguar F-Pace is lovely inside and out, with a range of powertrains and sophisticated road manners that earn it a 6.6 out of 10.
Sharp handling, good cabin quality, and performance choices ranging from a turbo-4 to a grunty V-8 earn the compact sedan a TCC Rating of 6.0 out of 10.
