AutoHunter Spotlight: 1960 Ford Sunliner

Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this restored 1960 Ford Sunliner convertible. It is powered by a rebuilt 352cid V8 and rebuilt Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. Features include Continental kit, power steering, AM radio, and updated power brakes with dual-circuit master cylinder. Finished in red with red power-operated top over a tri-tone red/black/white vinyl interior, this Galaxie Sunliner comes with restoration receipts and a clear title.

During the restoration (that was completed in 2012), the body was refinished in the original Monte Carlo Red (code J). Features include fender-mounted antenna, dual rearview mirrors, rocker panel trim, polished stainless steel skirts, and Continental kit with body-color tire cover.

A set of 14-inch black steel wheels with wire wheel covers is wrapped in whitewall radial tires.

The cabin is furnished with a red/black/white vinyl front bench seat and matching trim. Features include power steering, column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, and AM radio. According to the seller, the convertible top, interior, trim, moldings, weatherstripping, window felts, and seals are either new or in excellent condition.

The instrument panel consists of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The odometer reads 22,811 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

Power is provided by the reportedly original 352 two-barrel, though the carburetor appears to be upgraded to a four-barrel. The engine is connected to a Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission – both rebuilt. The rear differential features 2.91 gears.

Braking is provided by rebuilt power drum brakes. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
